Rideau Valley Roller Derby (formerly Rideau Valley Roller Girls) is a competitive level, non-profit, women’s flat-track roller derby league based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. We are a collective that is run by the members, for the members with a focus on women in sport and developing North America’s fastest growing sport within the National Capital Region. RVRD gained not-for-profit status in October, 2008 and became a full WFTDA member in June of 2012. Through fundraising, partnerships and volunteer work we strive to give back to the communities that have supported us.
RVRD has three home teams, the Slaughter Daughters, Riot Squad and the Prime Sinisters and two all stars teams, the Rideau Valley Vixens (WFTDA Charter A team) and the Sirens (B team). Non-team members of the league are known as Murder Dolls. Murder Dolls participate fully in all practices and events and help the league alongside our team players by working at the merchandise table at away games and by volunteering at home games.

Who can join Rideau Valley Roller Derby?
Only women over the age of 18 are allowed to participate as roller derby players in our specific league. Women and men over the age of 18 can join the Rideau Valley Roller Derby as skating referees and coaches. To volunteer at our games you need only be 16 years old.
What is the time commitment to being a member of RVRG?
Roller derby can be quite time consuming. Year round we generally have three practices a week, and there may be one or two promotional and/or fundraising events a month. While 100% attendance is not realistic and therefore not expected for extra events, we do expect skaters to attend as many of these events as possible. A minimum of 50% attendance at practice is required in order to maintain your status as an active skater with the Rideau Valley Roller Derby, 75% to maintain team status and 80% to maintain all-star team status. During the Fresh Meat training program, you are expected to maintain at least a 75% attendance to be eligible to take the minimum skills requirement test.
How much are the dues?
All player members of the Rideau Valley Roller Derby pay league dues of $50 per month. Our dues pay for practice space rental and the purchase of game supplies and equipment.
